Moores Hill has teamed up with the Vineyard Seafood team to bring a delicious array of seafood snacks with our refreshing wines to the Taste of Tasmania this year.

It has been a big year for Moores Hill, we built Tasmania’s first 100% off gird winery at our site in the Tamar Valley. The winery was completed just in time for the 2017 vintage and enables us to be in control of our production from vine to bottle.

The winery is not connected to the electricity grid, drawing energy from 108 solar panels on the roof and supported by 80kw of battery storage. 

We’ll be pouring the first of our ‘solar powered wines’, our 2017 Pinot Gris at the Taste of Tasmania festival.

This will be our 7th year at the festival and we’re excited to be pairing our wines with a food menu from the Vineyard Seafood team that showcases fabulous local produce.

Starting with grilled scallop on the half shell with hazelnut coriander butter. Featuring Hazelbrae hazelnuts and Yorktown organics coriander. Try it with a Moores Hill Pinot Noir.

Our 2016 Riesling is a festival favourite and we suggest pairing it with a serve of smoked mussel paté featuring Norfolk Bay mussels.

For a summer indulgence, Tasmanian crayfish rice paper rolls with nim jam dressing can be elegantly paired with a glass of Sparkling or Chardonnay.

Spicy mackerel salad with sweet/sour dressing will be a winner with a glass of ‘solar powered Pinot Gris’.

We’ll be pouring 2 wines from our sister vineyard, Native Point as well- 2017 ‘solar powered’ Sauvignon Blanc and for those who like a bigger style of Pinot, the 2013 Pinot Noir.

The festival starts on December 28, 2017 and runs til January 3, 2018 at PW1 on the waterfront in Hobart.
