Winter has definitely arrived here in Tasmania, the weather is wild! We are starting the important task of pruning a little earlier than usual so we can complete it before the depths of winter strike.
Vintage 2016 Wrap Up
An exceptionally warm and dry summer was great news for grape growers!
But no year is without drama- smoke from the large bush fires in north west Tasmania and a couple of big rain events rolled in to cause us headaches.
Ultimately, the smoke did not affect our fruit- great news! We started picking a little earlier than usual and harvested a good crop. 2016 will go down as one of the bigger vintages in Tasmania, we're looking forward to tasting the wines.
2016 Australian Sparkling Report
Tyson Stelzer is THE guy for critiquing sparkling wine in Australia. He tastes and reviews sparkling wine for James Halliday's Wine Companion. He publishes an annual Champagne guide which has won numerous gongs.
If you have any interest in sparkling wine and what to buy, you'll want to read the inaugural Australian Sparkling Report, available free online.
We were pleased to read that Moores HIll was rated 3 stars in the Hall of Honour putting our tiny vineyard alongside big Tassie players like Josef Chromy and Pipers Brook.
Our NV Sparkling Blanc de blancs was rated 91 points.
