In August every year, the new edition of the Halliday Wine Companion is publsihed. Tasting notes and scores for thousands of Australian wines are revealed. It is a mammoth publication in all respects- tasting, collating, publishing and marketing. As a wine producer we have mixed feelings about it- and we won’t explore them here, much better done over a glass of wine or two.
But if you are interested in our scores from the 2020 Wine Companion, here they are (all the wines were tasted in February 2019).
NV Sparkling Blanc de Blancs, 93 points
2017 Riesling (sold out) , 95 points
2017 Chardonnay, 95 points
2017 Pinot Noir (sold out), 95 points
Our 2017 wines were the first wines to be made in our new, off grid winery so we’re very pleased with these results. 2017 was a very good vintage for Tasmania although cool winds around flowering time resulted in very low yields for Pinot Noir.
