Our solar powered winery. There are 108 solar panels on the roof (28kw) and we have 80kw of battery storage. Vintage 2020 will be our 4th vintage making wine powered only by the sun. Sure, we’re only small (the winery has 100 tonne capacity) but this is an example what can be done with solar energy. The cost? We calculated a 5 year payback period based on installation and power bills for this size of winery. The building collects its own water and all winery waste is treated on site. We’re off grid for power, water & waste.
