Short walks, long lunches & cellar doors

Planning a visit to Moores Hill? Our cellar door is an easy 40 minute drive from Launceston but you’ll have plenty of time to do other things along to way, the Tamar Valley has so much to offer. Here are some ideas to plan a day or two in our beautiful valley.

Short Walks
Get close to the river and wetlands as you stroll out to Tamar Island.
See huge treee ferns at Notley Fern Gorge, The trail winds down to the bottom and up again, a comfotable 30-45 minute walk, dependng on how long you stop to take photos of the stunning plant life.
Greens Beach is a safe beach to dip your toes into the icy waters of Bass Strait. There’s also an easy walk from the beach around to West Head.

Long Lunches Outdoors

The old Strathlynn restaurant site has been revived as The Ducks. A very welcome addition to the West Tamar. Relax and take in the stunning views over the vines to the river.
Fancy a pub lunch? The Rosevears Hotel is located right on the river with tasty pub fare and local wines.

Cellar Doors
Enjoy the rustic ambience and stunning river views at Marion’s Vineyard. Call in to our neighbours, Swinging Gate Wines for funky pet nat and natural styles, you can even stay in their futuristic domes.
Take in the clever architecture of Stoney Rise’s new cellar door and enjoy yet more lovely vineyard and river scenery with wines to match.
